Article 50 Triggered

Government trigger Article 50 with Parliament’s approval. This told the EU that we would be leaving in 2 years.

March 2017
Withdrawal Act

Parliament approved the Withdrawal Act. This made existing EU law UK law and says that the EU can’t make future laws for the UK.

June 2018
Negotiations Continue

UK Government and EU representatives negotiate the terms of withdrawal.

June-November 2018
Deal

Draft withdrawal deal agreed.

November 2018
Vote Delayed

Government delayed vote on the deal due to lack of support in Parliament.

December 2018
Deal Rejected by Parliament

Parliament votes on the deal and rejects government’s Withdrawal Agreement.
